Our commitment

Rockwell's Bar & Grill is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, voice control or other assistive technology. We keep working to improve the experience for all of our guests.

Our standard

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), as the standard for this website. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities.

Conformance status

We believe this website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content may not fully meet the standard. The parts we know about are listed below, and we fix problems as we find them.

What we do

  • We fix accessibility problems in the website itself. We don't rely on an add-on toolbar or overlay.
  • We test every page with automated accessibility tools, on desktop and phone-sized screens.
  • We check pages by hand using only a keyboard, and review color contrast, zoom and text sizing.
  • We re-test when we add or change pages, and review this statement at least once a year.
  • Our goals include: menus and event details published as text (not only as images or PDFs), descriptive text for images, a “Skip to main content” link, a visible focus outline, and pages that work when zoomed in or viewed on a small screen.

Known limitations

  • Maps. The maps on some pages are provided by Google Maps, and parts of the map controls may be hard to use with assistive technology. Our address, 60 Terry Road #7, Smithtown, NY 11787, is always written out as text next to the map, with a link to directions.
  • Printable menus (PDF). The food and catering menu PDFs are printable copies, and both now carry selectable text a screen reader can read aloud. They are still a secondary copy: the full menus appear as text on our Menu and Catering Menu pages, which is the version we keep up to date. If you need either in another format, call us at (631) 360-8900.
  • Event flyers and photos. Event details are written out as text on the Events page. If a flyer or photo contains information you can't get from the page, please let us know.

Third-party content

Some features on this site are provided by other companies, such as Google Maps, guest reviews shown from Google, and links to social media and review sites. We choose these services with accessibility in mind, but we don't control their content or code and can't guarantee that it meets the same standard. If you have trouble with any of them, call us and we'll get you the same information or service another way.

Compatibility

This website is designed to work with current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge on desktop and mobile, and with common assistive technologies such as VoiceOver, TalkBack, NVDA and JAWS. It is built with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and relies on these technologies to work with your browser and assistive technology. Older browsers may not display everything correctly.

How we assess this website

We evaluate this site ourselves (self-evaluation), using automated testing tools and manual checks. We keep a dated record of each review.
